Venom of life

The color of fallen autumn leaves
The two entwined and danced
Their tiny tails so musical they were
Shaken they make their warning
Deadly venom lay heavy within
Through folding needles it came
While I was healing a fallen one
Not knowing they swam within
A bloody pool of water I had
Within my bowl to use
To try and aid those in need of a cure
I had no time to observe
That the orange of autumn’s fallen leaves
Had crept within my bowl
And gently, so gently
They bit my hands
Delicate webbing marred by their punctures
Now venom flows within my veins
Death should be near by
Yet all I feel is the need to aid
Those waiting for my help
I grow stronger in life
Death comes not
The deadly bite kills not
For me it serves to strengthen my life
The energy I give to others returns
On the deadly bites of those two serpents
